You've answered your own question - it's because they're out today. My dates were out last week and the prices are now half what they were then. It was the same for the trip I did in September this year.

I am now totally confused... been on Virgin's low fare calculator and the rest of the dates in Sept prior to 26th MAN to MCO are coming up 'reasonable' prices yet going on 26th it is £1,316 and after that there are no economy seats left on any day apparently?! Surely that's wrong.

They probably haven’t been released yet. We go the 13th and return the 28th that was only released a few days ago. It’s probably your return date that’s not out.

When is your return date? Virgin have only released flights up to 30th September as of me checking the app a few minutes ago. For the first few days after release the prices are much higher than usual. I guess this is to try and make money from businesses booking flights as soon as they are released. After a week or so the prices tend to come down. I'm flying 3-17 September next year and my prices are still higher than I want to pay. I'll just keep waiting and eventually they'll drop to a more reasonable level.

Don't forget there are hopefully Black Friday and Christmas sales coming up so a chance for a bargain there.

My actual return dates aren’t out but I was doing it on the month fare calculator thing and was just choosing 26th Sept to 4th Oct as an idea as these are out. I spoke to someone on virgin live chat as every flight prior to 26th was around 4-500 return yet on 26th it was 1316! She said there must be an error. She also thought it had to be an error with the no economy left after this date as when you searched the exact dates flights would appear - very strange! They’ve noted it and should be fixing.

I have booked flights with Tui from 5 Oct for £608 on the Dreamliner from Doncaster. Really happy with this as we normally have to travel to Manchester

We were looking at this but even though I don't mind Sanford we prefer MCO,we have booked Thomas Cook for the 19th September for 410.00.
