Virgin prices seem very high

Hi.
Has anyone noticed that Virgin seems to have increased their prices for September 2018?

2 days ago, the holiday we were looking at was £2100 for both of us. The same one today seems to have increased by £1600 to £3700.

If thats correct, we may have to look at other airlines.

James

I don't really understand why anyone would limit themselves to checking just one carrier anyway. Surelyyou check all options as a matter of course ?

We don't usually look at other airlines because we have also had good service and reasonable prices from Virgin. It may be time to look around.

Couldn't agree more. We are looking to fly from Glasgow in September as its a direct flight. Price was £1062 last week, £1590 yesterday and £1326 today ... hmmmm prices are for PE . I'm checking every day and it's driving me mad 😳

Is this Virgin Atlantic or Virgin Holidays?
If VH, I have never found them cheap, always much more expensive than BA holidays for example..

If VA,mitten, prices for. Flight are zoned lije all scheduled airlines, a very complicated algorithm, based on how many sold, how many of particular fare class, etc etc.
You will find prices go up as cheaper seats are sold, then move around depending on loads etc.
There is no human logic to it...

Hi duchy, for PE travel VA is our choice, their seat comfort/width is, for us, far better than BA/other airlines. For biz fares we'll consider most airlines, perhaps not Yorkshire Airlines tho, dodgy management!

Maybe the cheap seats have been sold as part of packages through VH, before the 11 month mark ?
We booked a package holiday to Florida for Oct 2018 with VH in April 17 and looking at prices involved we have paid about £590 direct for Oct half term.

My guess is the prices have gone up as the end of year sale will be starting soon. To advertise something at a lower price they must show it was a higher price for a period of time in the past.

For example bought a hoover this week on a sale price of £140 reduced from £260. The only time they charged the £260 was for 5 days in mid October because currys did sell it for that brief time it can then be classed as a sale item.

When I was looking for our flights - Aug 2018 - the prices fluctuated so much. I found that on a mon/tue they were at their cheapest, random I know! I checked every day pretty much for a couple of weeks prior actually booking them and waited till they were at a price I was happy with. I noticed the same when we first decided to book florida last year so I'm sure the price will come down again soon x

I'm hoping thats what it is. I did a chat with someone called Michael online at Virgin. He said this far ahead it only shows 20% of the seats, and it may be thats why some dates show no flights, it could be that those 20% were already booked.

Not completely sure what he meant.
