I have always taken handfuls of Starbucks plastic straws to Animal Kingdom as the paper straws are terrible with Frappuccinos. When I tried to use them I ended up having to collect 3 straws for each drink as they just don’t last.

I guess this means stocking up on even more straws from outside WDW to take in with me as we visit Starbucks at least 3 times a day with 5 orders.

Great news , there are plenty of very good alternatives on the market . Perhaps they will do like Ikea and McDonald’s where you request one if you really need one . It’s amazing how many people now manage without a cup lid or straw in Ikea now they are behind the counter .

Pinball, Really... why do you think they don’t have plastic straws at AK?

This is against current Disney park rules at AKL. Balloons and plastic straws are not permitted in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park for the safety of the animals.

Excellent move by Disney. Although I do hope they’ll still carry the plastic bendy straws for those that need them.

It's a good move but sadly Disney and the other big corporations & supermarkets have a long way to go. Last time we went WDW was still putting fresh whole fruit like oranges and apples in plastic cases in some locations.

Yep, lets ban straws, but keep serving drinks in plastic lined paper cups with plastic lids on top. Absolute joke

Why do they feel the need to ‘ban’ things. Can they not just replace them with paper ones?

I hope they do replace them with paper straws though and not do what other places have done and just stopped providing any type of straw. In Morrisons the other week there were no straws for the cold drinks as they were ‘in the process replacing them with paper’. I could have walked into the shop and bought some paper straws. I feel some places just use it as an excuse to save a few pennies.

What about those flexible straws that come with the big reusable beakers for those looking for a softer flexible straw, easily carried around and cleanable with Milton or boiling water
