Cheapest time of year to fly ?

I’m now retired (hooray!) and no longer tied to school holidays. Because of some contractual obligations I still have some blackout dates, but they are few and far between. I’m now looking at a trip, probably offsite, in 2020. I’d like to go sooner, but DH, also retired, is doing a taught MA course this academic year.
Any advice?

I was knocked over by VA prices for Jan and Feb and even into very early March for 2019. £250 for Econ is awesome
But can be cool and possibly cold so not for us.

May prices can be very good and of course the weather is lovely.

January, after Easter (May) and September are traditionally cheaper. Also sometimes 1st weeks of December.

Consistently there seems to be the cheapest prices in Feb, April to May after Easter Hols however I think you can find cheap prices for any time of the year including school holidays if you look hard enough!

We have always been tied to school holidays - but not next year! Having been used to paying £1k for flights alone in August we have been bowled over by the deals in September. Two adults, BA direct flights, five nights Sapphire Falls, four nights Clearwater with car hire only £2k! Can't wait to get booking that in the New Year Think the weather will be ideal too.
