Arrival at MCO...

Hi folks. It will be 4.5 years since we last flew into Orlando when we arrive in January, and I imagine there will be a different pace to things now. Could you give me a current overview? We normally travel with carry-on luggage only, but as it's winter this trip, we are considering taking a hold suitcase too. We are travelling with VA, front row of economy.
How long has the process been taking? Any tips for immigration? Can one of you still head down to car hire while the other waits for the cases?

It's not changed much. Get off plane. Get in immigration queue (being first off here helps greatly). Expect wait from 10 mins to 2 hours here.

This year we didn't have to give fingerprints and there was also no separate customs queue after picking up bags.

Get bags off carousel. This can sometimes be very slow. I've been through immigration in 20 mins then spent half hour waiting for bags before.

Then go straight to monorail. Quickest way is take your cases up escalator and take them on with you, rather than sending them over and waiting at another carousel.

Get off monorail and head straight down to car hire or magical express, either using lifts or escalators.

YorkshireT explains it great. We went twice this year March took 15 minutes went with TC, went in September Virgin took 40 minutes. Wait times depend on the size of the plane and how many planes come in at the same time. Have a happy holiday.

Mike, depending on who you use for car hire, you can go straight to the garage, pick your car and drive away. No waiting at the desks now.

You will be shocked at all the new roads around Disney, took us a bit to get used to them.

Mike some of it is the luck of the draw. Last year we were first off the plane (literally, we were back row of PE on Virgin). We arrived in the immigration hall and thought we'd done something wrong, it was empty. We went straight to a terminal, had a quick chat with the immigration dude (he was really cheerful and talkative) who cleared me and said "ok, off you go and get the luggage sorted Dad" with a laugh whilst he processed DW and DD's.
In all a pretty painless operation. The biggest delay was probably me being a car tart in the garage trying to pick something decent!

We went through two weeks ago, seems better now, no automated machines, join the queue, great if you're at the front of the plane or upper deck! No fingerprints just photo, baggage claim right behind immigration and then off to the monorail.
