Florida Girl. The theatre is very central just of Piccadilly Circus. You could stay in any area of London. Anywhere on the Piccadilly would be good.

I'm not sure if I'm meant to start a new thread here or just carry on so here goes...

We're going to be in London for a few days but only actually travelling into central London on one of those days.

We're going to be making two journeys - one from Edgware to Charing Cross (peak hours) and then from Piccadilly Circus to Golders Green (off peak).

The rest of the day we'll be on foot or on a hop-on-hop-off bus.

So can someone who understands the system tell me what the best ticket is to buy. I've read and reread the Oyster information and I'm having a totally mental block with it!

thanks

You can simply use a contactless debit or credit card, which will now give you Oystercard pricing (without needing an Oystercard). See tfl.gov.uk/fares-and-payments/contactless

One thing to watch though is that you will need a separate contactless card for each person.

Yes if you have an Oyster card and a contactless card in the same wallet it will choose one for you. Always take out the card you want, use it and replace it.

We are looking at the possibility of travelling to London in February as a surprise Christmas gift for DS. He is a Chelsea fan so are hoping to include the Stamford Bridge tour, but not a match. Don't even know where to start looking at hotels. We will fly into Heathrow as it is on the tube and suits us for the side of London we want to stay in.

Can anyone recommend a hotel in the area that isn't too expensive. Had looked at The Copthorpe Tara Hotelas it is near a tube station and isn't too far from Stamford Bridge but it gets mixed reviews. As well as the tour we want to do a bit of sight seeing as well as DS has never been to London. There will be three of us travelling, DH, DS and me.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I don't know if there are any Premier Inns or Travel Lodges near there but these are usually fairly cheap and cheerful hotels/motels.

Thanks for the reply -will check those out. Hadn't thought of the hotel chains.

Would anyone have any specific hotel recommendations?

We always stay in Travelodges/Premier Inn in London as we don't spend any time in the hotel, just use as a base.

Thanks everyone for the replies. We've decided we will put it off until the summer - better weather and longer evenings which will give us more time to get things done. Will be bookmarking though
