There is no advantage though as the ticket will still be valid from the first date you used the Ultimate and will expire one year from then
I’ve had mixed messages on this. I asked DVC MS if the AP will be valid from first use of the AP or first use of the original ticket, and they said first use of AP?

That’s what our DVC rep said too. He also said we could use the water park elements and still only upgrade to a premium.

I will try again when we go back to Disney tomorrow. Might try the upgrade at Disney springs. Will feedback when we do it.

DVC Ms are not experts on ticketing. And DVC Reps are not either.

If you upgrade a ticket to an AP, the AP will be active from the date that the original ticket was first used. There have (very rarely) been exceptions to this, where the Guest Services CM did not backdate the AP, but this isn't policy.

If you have used the water parks on the 14-day, the ticket can only be upgraded to Platinum Plus. Again, there may have been exceptions made in the past but this is not the policy so you can't rely on it.

Update. We have upgraded to a gold annual pass with DVC discount for $27 each. 21 day ultimate tickets are exempt/waived from the rule regarding use of waterparks and only then being allowed to upgrade to platinum plus. You can upgrade to whatever you like.

This was at Epcot. They refunded our parking.

An absolute no brainer today.

When does the gold AP start? First use of Ultimate or first use of AP?

First use of ultimate. This means we came late enough to be able to use next year.
