We always leave a tip. In the US $1 per person each day. In Europe €1 per person each day. We leave it on the note pad with a little note saying: for the housekeeping, thank you - in Spanish or French or as appropriate in Europe. We usually get a little note saying thank you. In Tenerife the maid often comes to find us to say thank you.

Aye always on the pillow or just below. I have left loads of change including dollar bills on the desk or near the TV and they have never been taken. Only the cash I leave on the bed.

I have never left a tip for housekeeping anywhere in the world. I have never heard of anyone else doing so either, not until I joined the dibb.

I’ve always left a tip for housekeeping; many years before I’d even heard of the Dibb.
As mentioned above, it’s a thank you to someone doing a crappy job who is likely on minimum wage & is making my stay more pleasant.
