Just a timely reminder to use a good quality high SPF sun block and lots of it (I read somewhere that most people don't put enough on because most creams are gloppy/greasy). Not just when abroad, home too, and not just in the sun - the sun is still powerful even from behind clouds.

Good luck Cairacf, let us know how you get on.

Linda xx

My DH saw the dermatologist within 2 weeks and at the appt, she said she wanted it removed there and then, could he wait. So that was that, then the diagnosis came through and he had to go back for a further op, to take the 2cm clearance round the spot, thankfully no skin graft required. It was rather strange as my Consultant was also my DH's as not only is he a specialist on Breast Cancer, but skin cancer too.

So for those that are worried about a mole, please see your GP and if you are worried, ask for a referral - something we wish we had done before!
Oh dear, I hope you are both all clear now? When I initially went to my doc (who is a mole specialist) he said it was nothing to worry about and sent me away. However, I got a call back the next day saying he had had a rethink and that we should do a small biopsy. They then said there was some changes but too small a sample size so they wanted to remove the whole mole. That's when it got flagged up luckily mine was still 'in situ' meaning it hadn't grown down any further than the top layer of skin. I thank my lucky stars every day that the doc had a rethink and called me back.

Really hope you guys are ok now too xx

I have a similar one, and I have appt in 2 weeks with the dermatology unit - fingers crossed

I have had several skin cancer scares with moles removed.
In the biopsy they have shown changes that may have led to cancer but luckily so far none have.

Better to be safe than sorry

Fingers crossed this one is fine
I have recently had 2 surgeries for MM so know what you are going through . Unfortunately mine had spread so had to have quite a big area removed . Luckily the plastic surgeon got it all so I didn't need any further treatment . I'm healing well though and can't wait to go on my hols soon , a few weeks ago I didn't know if I would be able to go
Please let me know how you get on and please pm me if you want a chat .
Take care Lisa

That's so nice of you, thank you! I was a basket case at the time to be honest but hid it well I think. The hardest part now is not being able to sunbathe. I get Factor 50 on prescription now (so its free!) but still have to stay in the shade wherever possible!

The ironic thing is, straight after I got the all clear from my surgery, I booked Florida for next year haha! Clear from skin cancer? Book a holiday to the sunshine state, that's wise!
