Flights from London to LA - summer, best price?

Hi there,

My BF gooes quite a lot for work and usually pays around 6-700GBP, and a bit more after upgrading to PE (this is with Virgin).

I, however, want to go with a friend in late July/August so don't want to spend as much. I've checked a number of times on Virgin, however, and the cheapest flight is 630 which is still a bit much for me.

What are the best prices people have gotten to go out to LA?

Hi, we are watching the prices closely too as ds lives in L A and is to make us grandparents in the new year, the prices vary but the best we have seen is £499 trouble is for us we dare'nt book untill the baby is born as don't want to tempt fate, so will be watching this thread with great interest!

If you want to go to LA in July/August, Underthesea, you will pay a premium because it's peak travelling time. £630 isn't a bad price for then.

We flew into San Francisco, out of L.A August last year. When the flights first came out ( Virgin ) they were just over £400 , by the time I could book in January they were about £580.

As mickchick said you'll probably pay that for around then as it's peak time, we went this year flying out 1st September and paid around £340 for our flights from LHR to LA with Virgin, these were booked in the sale over new years

I know its peak time but I've put in other dates, which I believe are off-peak, and its still pretty much the same price.

Thanks for the advice though - clearly booking earlier rather than later is the way to go though.
