We've stayed at the Marriott Renaissance Hollywood, it's a fab hotel and some of the rooms have views of the Hollywood sign. It also has a rooftop pool.

It's attached to the Hollywood & Highland, a small shopping mall, and then right outside is the Disney Soda Fountain, Chinese Theatre, Walk of Fame etc so definitely a great location for the Hollywood touristy things.
