We've just come back from staying at the Omni in Orlando - that was $30 pn the parking was also $25 pn but we have parking wavered in our booking . I don't understand why they don't just combine them both in the cost - so that there isn't any hidden scary stuff we keep having to look out for - does anyone know the reason for this?

I guess so when you see the rate per room it is more appealing than if they add the resort fee on. In Vegas most people know about resort fees so I just add it on when I am calculating the cost. Another reason it’s separate is if you gamble enough, or if there is an issue resort fees can be waived. We have Diamond status at Caesars properties and don’t pay resort fees at all. .
Just booked a couple of nights in Toronto and first thing I do is look to see if there are any other fees. There were lol. Seems to becoming more the norm in most big cities now. Guess we just dont go if we dont want to pay them. San Fran was so very expensive for us. Hotel well over $200 pn and then the fee then the parking. At least in Vegas you can get a cheap room! Yes you might get resort fees if you gamble . But if you lose money gambling as most do then you aren’t saving anything .. I’d like to best most gamble and lose far more than the $45 a night resort fee .

Totally agree. I don’t see your point? You have to pay resort fee whether you gamble or not. Of course people usually lose more than they save. We gamble very little but definitely usually end up at a loss.

If you use expedia they have started listing the prices including the resort fee and when you pay you pay the amount without the resort fee and the rest at the hotel.

Yes I noticed that too. If you book directly with the hotel they give you a price for room, then show taxes, then resort fee so at least its not a shock when you go to check out lol
I noticed on one booking site I went onto they dont mention resort fee at all, which is a bit sneaky. Thats why forums like this are great as at least you are aware of them and can make the decision whether you want to go and pay, or stay some where else, or not go at all! |
