6 months on passport?

Went in to tui to get my tickets sorted and they said my daughter wouldn’t be able to fly because she doesn’t have 6 months left.
I told her that was misinformation and she said are you just going by what people have told you or is it something someone official has said.
Pulled up the government website that said as long as the passport is valid for the return travel date then you don’t need any extra.

Hate when they tell you its 6 months ! they should know there stuff ..My daughters passport runs out in September we leave Orlando the 22nd and land back the 23rd and her passport expires the 24th but I will renew it as that's cutting it fine

Martins Money blog was talking about this the other day, so maybe check on that. Think things are changing due to Brexit for some countries when visiting.

We fly next weekend.
It’s still says on the uk government website as well as the us esta website that 6 months isn’t needed

My son's passport runs out five months after we get back. I wasn't planning on renewing it as I don't want to mess up our ESTAs from last year. I will keep a close eye out for any changes though.

Martin Lewis was saying that after brexit your passport will expire 10 years after the issue date. The EU (not sure about the rest of the world) will not recognise the extra up to 9 months you could have on the passport due to renewing early. So efficiently passports will be valid for 9 years 6 months after brexit.

They haven’t credited the upto 9 months on passports for a good while now

You haven’t need 6 months on your passport for 10 years now. You will apparently need 6 months to visit the EU after (IF) we ever manage to leave it!

I can confirm, having just arrived in the US with 8 weeks left on my passport, that the ‘6 month rule’ is nonsense. The only slight issue was that I had to go through full immigration as the automated machines pointed out I had less than 6 months. I explained this to the officer and he didn’t bat an eyelid - just took my fingerprints and waved me through

Brexit has no bearing on pp validity when flying to the US, we, the UK, along with circa 130+ other countries, are members of the Six Month Club, see HERE. Some have been confused by the first paragraph, until they read the words in bold below:

Visitors traveling to the United States are required to be in possession of passports that are valid for six months beyond the period of their intended stay in the United States. Citizens of the countries listed below are exempt the six-month rule and need only have a passport valid for their intended period of stay.

Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. You don’t need any additional period of validity on your passport beyond this.
