I have to wear trainers and socks when walking round the parks, flip flops always give me blisters if I wear them for long periods. On that note, I always take a pack of Compede or similar blister plasters cos if you get one it's flippin sore I've only used that side entrance a couple of times mainly as a short cut to go to Hard Rock for dinner. I take a light back pack - it's quite small and made of lightweight material - and carry suncream, plasters, wallet/ID (in plastic food bags in case we're caught in a downpour), car keys, tissues, meds. We tend to leave the 'wet' rides for one day and then I'll take a bigger bag and a change of clothes for everyone i.e dry shorts/underwear and flip flops - nothing worse than walking around soaking wet

I knnow people do wear flip-flops but I could NEVER wear something that unsupportive for walking 10+ miles a day! I need arch support and something not so flat. Walking sandals are perfect - have a look at Teva, Keen, Merrell etc. OP, can't tell from your username but if you're female then try Teva Kayenta which are as attractive as walking sandsals get My daughter has just bought Teva Hurricanes which are really comfy and she loves but they're far too ugly for me!

Due to having lymphoedema in my feet/legs, which causes horrendous swelling, I have to wear size 5E width sandals with velcro straps. I get them from Cosyfeet, a company which specialises in footwear for problem feet. You'd certainly call them ugly but I have no choice in the matter as 'normal' footwear doesn't fit me. These are them:

Trainers or walking sandals. Never wear flip flops as not supportive enough for me with all the walking you do in the parks. Please if you wear flip flops put plenty of sunscreen on your feet, the amount of people i saw this year with bright red feet . One poor girl was sat putting wet wipes on her burnt feet trying to cool them down, but the damage was already done.

Thank you again
I would never wear flip flops around a theme park, we walk between 10-20 thousand of steps every day and flip flops are not good for your feet over those distances. We wear either lightweight trainers or sketchers.

We usually bring a bag and use the lockers. If we are planning a short day, we will go without a bag. We weren't allowed on the Hulk as DH still had a phone in a zipped up pocket, still had to use the lockers for it.

Never heard of a second entrance but also have never had long queues entering at the regular entrance.

Mr and DH are runners so know it's important to have good foot support, you'll be doing a lot of walking. He and my DSs are in trainers and me and my DD are in Karrimor walking sandals. I tried the GoWalk sandals but my feet are wide so no good 🙁. There's a chance you could lose flip flops on a ride too, they're better for pool or water park days.

I have a waist bag for my camera and phone, DH has a rucksack for water bottles, snacks and suncream.

I've used the side entrance at Universal when staying at the Hard Rock Hotel, only evenings though.

I'm currently breaking in my shoes for when we go. I have a pair of Sketchers Go Walk, a pair of Fit flop sandals and a pair of Hush Puppies sandals. The Go Walks and the Fit Flops didn't rub at all, not even at the start, the Hush Puppies did a little on the side strap but aren't any more. Although I only walk 2 miles in them each day nowhere near the distances we will be walking on holiday!

Taking flip flops only for wearing around the resort / pools. You can do 20,000-30,000 steps a day easily in the parks so no way would I wear flip flops for that amount of walking.
