I'm very lucky in my team there's a few who are Disney mad, and some go more then me so get it completely! Those who work with my OH not so much 😂

But he just ignores them, we holiday for us 😁

i completely agree with your first comment itsmeGAV - but not your 2nd, as honestly some people (including a lot of my family and friends) really wouldn't thank you for a trip to Disney. They truly don't get it, and thats fine, we're all different .

I confess I dont get Disney but I like the rides and parks. I grew up without watching Disney films and have only seen a few now.

I think it’s great that everyone is different. I love talking holidays to anyone who will join in with me ! Lots of people go on holidays that I would hate but it doesn’t mean I just dismiss them. I hear more people dismissing European holidays ( particularly All inclusives) here on the Dibb than I have ever heard dismissing Disney in the real world. We have friends who go on amazing expensive holidays in the Indian Ocean every year. I would hate that holiday but it doesn’t mean I’m jealous.
We should just celebrate that we are all different. No destination is better than another. Everyone makes their own choices.
If you don’t like people’s reactions just don’t talk holidays to them.

I work for a large organisation so I’ve been able to find some colleagues who also get it, including finding out someone has parents who are DVC members. It’s nice having Disney chats occasionally at work
In home life, people usually express polite or bemused interest. I tend to reassure them its fine if people don't “get”, and don’t want to go to, Disney; the parks are busy enough as it is!

I've two best friends. One is a Disney geek like me whereas the other isn't the slightest bit interested. We have a group WhatsApp for general chit chat and a Disney WhatsApp for all things Disney.

They sound more mean than flippant in my opinion. Are they really your friends. How would they like you to express rude comments on their choice of holiday?

I think without knowing context, to question their value as friends is a bit much. I didn’t see anything in OP about rude comments. It surely isn’t unheard of for friends to tease each other on their quirks or make comments that they don’t get something, be it their interest in Disney or a sport, a TV program or band.

I have few friends that get it. But that’s fine. Each to their own. I don’t need their approval

I'm fortunate. Most of my family have been to Disney at some point over the last 30 years so they pretty much all get it.

Work colleagues on the whole are really excited for us, even if it's not the sort of holiday they enjoy themselves. One colleague in another office is a huge Disney fan and always strikes up a Disney conversation when he visits.
