We have a friend who was diagnosed with PC 15 years ago and has been on special tablets (sorry I dont know what) for it ever since, still going strong.
Its very worrying & the person you most want to talk to about it is the very person you cannot talk to about it. Please stay upbeat with him, he will not only be worried about it himself but also worried about how to approach it with you, so if you can, take the initiative & talk to him about it but in an upbeat way. No point worrying until you have been told there may be something to worry about etc.
Come on here if you need to talk about worries so he can feel he does not have to worry about you too (yes I've been there so do know what I'm saying)

To the OP I have just been for my MRI for the same thing . I am worried to a certain extent but having had the same scare 15yrs ago, and after a biopsy, was found to be negative , I suppose I am not as bothered this time. I have to self catheterize numerous times a day so I am telling myself it is an inflammation which has caused the raised psa. I am 67 yes old so these things happen at our age. I think that in this day and age even if cancer is found the chance of survival are very high so try not to worry too much.

My father in law has had it for 20 years, they just monitor him. If they catch it early which is likely, it might be just the same. Loads of people who die for other reasons are found to have prostate cancer unknown to them, but something else such as old age got them first.

Thanks so much all for sharing your stories. I guess having lost Dad to PC I am terrified. Dad was diagnosed at 55, had radio therapy, but it came back at 72. I'm just hoping against hope it turns out to be bph or an infection.

UPDATE

Met with urologist today. Pirads score on MRI of 5 (highest can be), biopsy ordered. He has told us its "highly likely" to be cancer.

I'm broken. Was so hoping it was something of nothing.

Everyone tells me stories of their Dad/Grandad dying with it, not of it, but DH is 47. Surely this is young?

Really sorry to read your update - checked with my DH but he was never given a pi rads result after his MRI just referred for urgent biopsy. While it is difficult please try and stay strong as there is still hope until the biopsy is done and the results discussed. He is young and I'm guessing otherwise healthy so even if he has to go down the treatment route he has a fighting chance of beating it.

Sending cyber hugs to you both across the skies xx

My friends Dad has just been through this. Had scans etc was told they were fairly certain it was cancer urgent biopsy requested. A terrifying time for all but it came back clear. Easy for me to say but hang on in there for the biopsy results.
