Happy Ramadhan (fasting month) ..

To any of my fellow dibbers who will be observing the Islamic month of Ramadhan (due to start either Sunday or Monday dependant on the sighting of the new moon) .. I wish you all a happy, content, and peaceful month

I would love to hear from dibbers who will be fasting.

Also, very happy to answer any questions from anyone else regarding the month - I am not very learned or have a great knowledge, but I will try and answer to the best of my abilities - I am lucky to have friends and family who are much more clued up than me !

I became close to a colleague who observes it and I really enjoyed learning about it from her and admired her greatly.

On a different note, I attended her wedding and it was the most beautiful wedding I’ve ever been to and I feel extremely privileged to have been there.

I worked with someone who observed Ramadan and he struggled when it fell at this time of year into the summer because the hours of daylight were so long. I don’t know how he managed.

I invited my (non muslim) work friends to my son's wedding last year, and they all said the same thing - they thoroughly enjoyed it.
Especially all the food !

I work with a Muslim and at lunchtime he said see you in a month We went to his wedding a couple of years ago and it was very interesting. The timetable was very flexible and the snap was lovely.

I don’t know anyone who celebrates Ramadan and am embarrassed to say I know very little about it apart from the fasting, but happy Ramadan to those who do!

Also when are you actually permitted to eat/drink?

I don’t think I could have that kind of commitment or discipline at all!
