Short break in November in Europe-suggestions please 😀

Turn 50 in November and off to NYC in December for a friend’s 50th, and a spa break at some point with DH but trying to decide what to do with DH, DS15 and DH18. Have posted in DLP forum as considering going back there as went for my 40th, but also wondering about a long weekend in London and a show-quite fancy Mary Poppins and would do some other bits. Or possibly three nights in Europe. I know if we want sun it would have to be Canaries but also wondering about maybe Madrid or Barcelona but just wondered what is there to do in November and what is weather likely to be like? If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful. Xmas markets in a Europe don’t start til later in the month and really fancy doing something on my actual birthday

3 days is about the perfect amount of time for Venice.
I love Rome and have always found it warm and pleasant in Dec and Jan, so Nov would prob be nice.

I have an upcoming trip to Iceland, but the last time I was there was about 11 years ago in late Nov.

Copenhagen is also nice - their Christmas season starts 15th Nov (Halloween runs to 3rd Nov)...

So many choices...

DH just mentioned Iceland-he’s busy trawling the internet as we speak 😀 I have heard it’s really expensive to eat there though and with three of us being vegetarian, not an ideal place. Hadn’t even considered Copenhagen so will look at that option. Off to Italy in July or might have looked at there.

Iceland is expensive to eat - but it’s 3 days and your 50th!
This article iheartreykjavik/2017/03/...-in-reykjavik/
suggests that veggie food is widely available in Reykjavik and it should be cheaper than meat options as well.

Thank you-this is now
Just adding to my dilemmas 🤣. Genuinely have no idea what I want to do but I know I want to do something special. I love the idea of maybe seeing the Northern Lights but not the idea of everyone being too cold. Already thinking about how many clothes I’ll need for NYC

We went to Tromso in mid November for 5 nights. Wasn't too cold and we saw the northern lights and went whale watching. Loved it!

We stayed in a hotel in the centre that wasn't too pricy and had 'snacks' in the afternoon which gave us a belly full.

We flew direct from Gatwick with Norwegian. Its easy to get around and loads to see. I could recommend an excellent northern lights guide!

We have done Barcelona in late Oct early Nov, I remeber it being sunny but chilly.

Also in Nov been to Lanzarote and early December Marakesh both nice and warm and plenty to do

Hey Col

We went to Barcelona in December a couple of years ago and the weather was perfect. There’s loads to do, it’s a fantastic city, I’m sure you and your kids would love it! We went for a football match so did the stadium tour too, and as we were only there for two days it didn’t give us much spare time but we wandered down Las Ramblas, looked round the marina, went to the Hard Rock Cafe, generally mooched about! We barely scratched the surface and would love to go back.

Incidentally - we’ve got a couple of days in Miami in July, any recommendations would be fab! (We’re staying in downtown near Bayside). I think I remember you saying you hired bikes which sounds fab

Madrid is lovely. We went in November and honestly it was boiling! About 23/24 degrees.

It’s a lovely city, brilliant and easy to get around. Amazing food, bars, we went to a flamenco bar and that was great fun! I’d definitely recommend it.

My favorite European city break was Krakow. The old town especially is beautiful
Really cheap too, lots to see and do.
