Horse riding

Has anyone done this in the national forests/parks? I found one place that doesn’t allow under 10’s (I will have my 9 year old) and another that does a river ride where you can ride a horse while it swims (for part of it, not the whole ride!)...any experiences or recommendations?

I did the horseback through the swamps it was great, visited a horseback ride the other day at lake Louisa wildlife country park, and they do horseback rides. Lovely ladies there to deal with.

Ocala national forest - seems the river swim may only be doable in spring - their mobile site wasn't very strong (called Makin' tracks')

Ocala is horse show country in the winter-those wuth the means from the north will travel to Ocala and Wellington (by Ft. Lauderdale) to show between January and March.

Both hold grand prixs which are fun to watch as are the little kids on small ponies.

Nothing is cheap at the shows. When my DD rode she was told one week of showing in Florida would be around 10K. She watched in Wellington with her university equestrian team when they did pre season practices in the area but I never has 10 K extraa to throw away for her to show in Florida.

I’ve booked my 13 year old on the tri circle d ranch at Disney’s Fort wilderness resort. She rides here and has been desperate to ride Disney horses!

Next year I’m looking at booking a trail at Dreamcatcher Ranch and rescue centre in Clermont for her.
