I’m soon off for my 10th trip and we spent 10/12 days there so we go off the main strip a lot ,

Yes there are some not so nice parts, most of which tourist don’t need to go to .
Behind the stratosphere, back of Circus Circus, A block or two back from the strip isn’t pleasant but there’s nothing there for tourists.

Worst areas are past Downtown along Nellie Blvd but we broke down along there and we’ve used the McDonald’s many times and we’ve been fine .

I feel perfectly safe in vegas we’ve walked down to the Stratosphere and back and it’s been fine.. and there are always lots of people about .

We've always stayed in major hotels on the strip and you see security everywhere.

I'm not a big fan of Fremont Street at night but my husband liked it - I felt uneasy but my husband enjoyed the 'vibe'. Live country music and people drinking in the street and dancing. Not my thing (I know, I'm boring!) but the people there looked like they were having a great time!
That’s one thng I have noticed more and more over the last few years, the beggars are becoming far more vocal .
They used to sit there quietly but I’ve had them approach us for money and start to mouth off when we ignore them .
The don’t bother me though, there is always a lot of security around .

Fremont I can tolerate for a hour or so each trip .. we all like the live music, but I think you need to be very open minded if you go there as you sure see some sights ..
first time I went in 2004 I hated it and we left after 20 mins ..

Sadly the same is true of cities in the U.K. too.

Yeah this!

The last time I was there (2016) we found the strip rammed with beggars, winos, Uber/Lyft touts and fake goods sellers. Found it really tiresome after awhile having to navigate through all of it - including (a first for us) being given (well they tried to!)business cards for sex shows and prostitutes.

There is loads of security and I’ve never felt unsafe but the whole vibe seems to have got sleazier over the years.

Don’t get me wrong I like Vegas well enough and had some fun times there but I’m done with it for now. Needs a bit of a purge on the strip in my opinion - they seem far more lax about what they allow to go on there these days. Plus certain parts of it reek with the stench of so many down & out winos. These people need some proper help and shouldn’t be left festering in the streets begging for drink money.

Just my thoughts - sure you will have a great time - so much to see and do.

Well I thought there were far less card slappers last year than previous years, In 9 trips even the one without the kids we've never been approached by them we just don't make any eye contact and they leave us alone.

The beggars vary. I've been when they've all been rounded up on the bridges and shipped off back to the waste land past downtown so very few around and then other years there's been loads.

The most annoying people on the strip the last few years are those giving out cards for Lyft and Uber.. They stand at the bottom of the escalators getting in your face and the strip was littered with the cards.. Surprised they haven't been banned tbh.

My kids are 19 & nearly 16 and I wouldn't be bothered about them walking on the strip without me... I feel far safer there than the streets of my local towns where you never see the Police.

I dont find Vegas "sleazy" at all. It has some of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Of course they have homeless/beggars/touts but no more than any other major US city. I fully expected to hate it and only went to see GC, but was surprised at how nice it is. Maybe I am easily pleased lol

Well I've just been told elsewhere I have low standards lol..

But no I don't find Vegas sleazy either and never have..

I think sometimes I must be in a different place though.. I was reading last night on another group that this person saw limo's full of hookers pull up outside the Mirage at 10pm every night... Yes I can see their security allowing that ;-) He was quickly shot down by many regulars to Vegas lol..

Makes me wonder why anyone would be at the limo drop off point of Mirage every night at 10 pm. Most people are either in the casino or eating or seeing LOVE and no where near the drop off point unless you are just arriving etc. What were they doing? lol
Can't see security allowing that either.
