Navigating Disney World at Christmas

So after a bargain ticket wise we have bought Disney World tickets for over Xmas. We have MVMCP on the 15th so will use our 14 days from the 16th to the 30th. We are Staying offsite apart from 1 night at WL in the 26th so what are your best tips regarding the parks at Xmas? We are doing DC Xmas day so we are hoping to do Epcot after - are we mad?

Get up very early. This is the only advice you need. It will be mobbed Christmas week like you cannot imagine. However. The parks open very early and people are rubbish at getting up. Concentrate on rides for the first four hours and then focus on shows. I’d save meals for when the crowds become too much. Pack your patience. We also did DC on Christmas Day which is excellent for guaranteed crowd control. Pack layers as well. We had day time highs we could swim in for three days, happily one was the DC day, but we also needed hats, gloves and full winter coats for 6 days that trip it was bitterly cold as well. Don’t forget to take in a tour of the deluxe resorts. The lobby’s are beautifully decorated. But mostly. Get up very early.

In early home by lunch. I'm hoping I won't need winter coats!

We loved it. We stayed onsite from 24/12 to 4/1 last year and had the best time.

I did a full trip report which might give you an idea of crowds, weather and what was on offer.

I’m staying in Beach Club and BLT this Xmas so looks a similar trip. I’m hoping the weather will also be 28!

Sounds perfect, we appreciated the ability to walk to the parks so much at that time of year.
I’m a little jealous. Hope you get as good weather as we had and that you have an amazing trip.

The Christmas crowds weren’t as bad as we expected when we went in 2015. We got up early, got our FP+ and made use of the crucial time early on for ride and sauntered out after lunch. Pretty much the same that we do in summer. We kept our expectations low and we were pleasantly surprised. Epcot was great on Christmas day as it took the crowds well! We did MK on the evening, and it wasn’t too bad. I wasn’t expecting to get in at all! We stayed on site and used Disney transport ... the roads looked insane 😱

We vistited at Christmas at 2016! Disney wasn’t too bad - universal was a lot lot worse! But saying that towards midday in Magic Kingdom it was difficult to walk through the streets!
