Here now, owner double booked villa
Not a great start to our holiday, bit of background this holiday was booked to celebrate myself turning 40 this year and my eldest turning 21, my eldest struggles a lot as he has autism, diabetes and only recently diagnosed with peanut and treenut allergy, he has not had a holiday or break away in over 5 years and has always refused to come with us, so this was meant to be a special holiday for us all to be away as a family as cant see him agreeing to go again so were treating it as our last family holiday all together.
My youngest also has autism and I also have autism, I searched long and hard for the perfect villa for that something special, pool area is massively important to me, can not be overlooked and to be a good size etc Travelled on through flight from aberdeen to Miami with ba, so travel day was incredibly hard as we were up for nearly 27 hours, stopped overnight and drove the 4 hours to our villa we booked. Only to arrive and find people already in it! spoke to owner and she assumed we were arriving on the 9th not the 2nd, our original booking was the 9th but we changed it to the 2nd which owner agreed with, she had changed it on her online system but not her booking folder so when she was contacted 3 days ago by an agent she said it was free and let other guests in. We have had this booked since last october and we are currently in a villa that management found but not of same standard, nowhere near it, pool area is awful, villas surrounding us have windows looking down onto pool so I'm not using it, it's also of a much smaller size. Owner stated yesterday we can stay here until the 8th but I'm not happy so went back to owner stating this and explained about our family situation so last email was she would try and get the other guests out asap but doesn't sound promising as they are a much larger family I have no idea what to do now, owner said we would hear this afternoon what's happening, we paid just over 2k for this villa for 2 weeks and I'm not coping well with the stress, this is a big change to our plans and as you can understand with autism, any change in plans can have a big effect on us This is not a dibb villa, it was listed on here few years back though, that's how I knew of it

Oh my Lord - I feel for you. I have no experience with autism but DD struggles with anxiety and that is hard enough to deal with when plans change. I really hope this gets sorted out soon for you. Is there any chance that perhaps a few hours out doing something your son would enjoy and maybe distract for a while would help? Sending lots of pixie dust for a swift and good resolution.

That's a very stressful situation to be in. I'd be fuming. I know you will be waiting to hear from owner/management company, but as far as possible can you stick to your plan today (if it involves going out)? That way, your family will be distracted and you will also be out of the villa. Have you Fastpasses or ADRs anywhere? If you try and get to these, it might make you feel you are not wasting the day.

I really hope you get sorted quickly. I can appreciate how stressful it is to be in such a different situation than what you anticipated. Is there anything you enjoy doing at home together that you can do in Orlando? Like watching a particular show, or playing a game or having a pizza together etc? Could something small like that perhaps help feel more settled whilst waiting to see what’s going to happen with the villa? Sorry I can’t be of much help!
