Anyone booked a flight for someone else but not been a passenger themselves?

Hi,

I just want to make sure we wont run into problems at the airport.
If someone who isn't flying booked a flight for someone else, once you get to the airport is there any faff?
Do they ask to speak to the person who booked the flight? As that person wont be there.

Just have a nagging feeling about it

I doubt it’s long as you fill in all the details correctly - my elderly aunt regularly books on behalf of her friends and family as she’s computer literate. There has never been a problem.

OP No issue at all. I book for my Daughter to fly to Orlando.
All done online and Virgin will have no idea and wont care who booked the flight. All the carriers want is the money!

Bear in mind most Business trips are booked by Secretaries or the Company Travel Team - My Secretary booked all my travel for me, that was part of her job.

Thankyou so much everyone! That put my mind at ease now.

I was panicking a bit as its a bit of a dodgy situation with regards to the booking (nothing illegal haha) but I just wanted to check we wouldn't end up having a problem

Thanks again

I did for many years for my children, both for travel and to go to and from universities. Never an issue. I don't think they know or care about who books the flight.

I booked for 6 others including my mother and sister to go earlier this year. From that I know that BA have a box you can tick to say the card holder isn’t travelling. In any case they had no issues at all.
