Once you've received a refund - how do you get your money off your credit card?
We have had to cancel our Disney trip and flights and the monies are being refunded to our original payment method, which were credit cards so we got the protection.
My question now is, how do we go about getting the positive balance off the credit card? It looks as though there would be a fee for doing this but this doesn't seem right given the unusual circumstances which have necessitated the refund and positive balance. What are other people doing? thanks! |

I think you can ring & ask for a credit balance refund to your bank, I rang to do this, was told as I’d paid balance of hols earlier in the month, then had the refund back in same month it cancelled each other out
Good luck |

I have a Halifax bank account and a Halifax c/c so it's easy and free of charges.

I've requested a balance transfer from nationwide credit card to our nationwide current account and it was done free of charge, within 5 working days.

I had to ask Barclaycard to transfer my credit balance to my bank account. I couldn’t get through by phone, but sent them a message via the banking app and they did it quite quickly.
There should be no charge for this. |

How about if your cc isn’t with your bank? I have an American Express card, any idea how that would work?

If you have a positive balance, they will be refund this to a bank account free of charge.
Note this only applies to funds in credit. Say you got a £5000 refund but you owed the card company £3500 for this month anyway they will only refund the £1500 difference. The other simpler option is just to leave the balance there and spend on the card instead of your debit card until you have used the credit balance |

Not with nationwide. I only asked for the balance to be transferred but they said we were entitled to a transfer of the total refund amount (rather than the difference). I pay our bill in full every month so it made no difference to me, but seeing as they offered, I had the full refund transferred to our current account, at no cost.

Some credit cards have a figure trigger, on mine its £500. If I am ever £500 or over in in credit then they contact me and ask me to transfer to money out of the account.
