Jeater Bend Christmas Lights and Open House Night in Celebration

For those of you interested in a trip to Celebration to see the decorated houses I recommend a visit to Jeater Bend Drive. Their annual street light switch on is today local time 6pm. It can get really busy closer to Christmas especially on Open House evening though.

Photos taken last year

Jeater Bend Drive - all houses linked to gether with music playing. Definitely worth a look.

Golfpark Drive

The annual Celebration Foundation Holiday Home Tour weekend this year is on 7th and 8th December - really enjoyed it last year but it gets really, really busy.

We're planning to go the week before Christmas. However we aren't hiring a car. Any tips on how to get from the main Celebration town area to Jeater Bend without having to hire another Uber?

It is walkable (and when it is busy better with out a car) - have a look at Google maps and it will show you where Jeater Bend is. Golfpark Drive might be a bit of a challenge is walking though as it is a bit further.

Thank you, I had a wee look and it looks to be about a mile walk. Which is fine usually, but we have our 6 year old with us and if she's being a cranky wee mare, we might need to think of alternatives to walking lol! I know there's a wee train or carriage you can ride but wasn't sure if it goes as far as Jeater Bend?

If you are on Facebook have a look at the page "The Lights on Jeater Bend" will give you an idea of what it looks like.

I did, thanks I asked the question in there too and the only answer I got was about driving lol! So I'm still none the wiser! No one seems to know whether the train or carriage rides take you as far as Jeater Bend!?

I went to both last year and enjoyed them. The homes are beautifully decorated and there is a house that is owned by the lady who actually designs the nutcracker figurines. He house is interesting to say the least. I did find I felt a bit voyeuristic traipsing through especially with the owners there but it was a wonderful experience. I cant actually answer the question re the train but my insticnt would tell me no as Jeter Bend got very crowded last year and I dont recall seeing either. There was very little space for them to have gone without the horses being spooked I would have thought.

Also on the 13th December there is Food Truck Friday when some yummy food truck vendors (I am sure you guessed that) come along and park down near the lake. We had a lovely night eating great food and listening to Celebration High School jazz band Christmas concert. It was one of the highlights of my holiday last year and was all free to listen.

Thank you! I think I'm just panicking that my little one will start moaning about the walk and we'll end up missing out! I hope if we take it at just a nice leisurely pace she'll be ok - kids!

I dunno if it helps to make it a rest day with a visit there at night? It was lovely and cool last year when we went so it wasnt too bad for walking. Jeter Bend is not the only house lit up so there will be things to see on the way that may occupy her and she will forget the walk? I live in hope

That's exactly the plan! although we are going to head over to Grand Floridian to see the Gingerbread House first, but it will still be a relatively relaxed day. No parks or craziness!
