Our daughter was then 10 and she was put near the front of the plane while the rest of us were dotted around the back. After asking the ground staff and getting nowhere I decided to ask the flight crew. They spent a long time trying to repatriate youngsters with parents on that flight. It was mayhem! I just wouldn’t risk it on what would be her first long haul flight!
Are seat bookings with aer Lingus not free. We just booked with them and chose our seats at booking. I saw the ones nearer the front were paid options but we weren’t really bothered where we were. Is it different for different classes of booking?

Always recline - as soon as possible - and without notice

Rather than making you pay for a seat together why don't they refund the value of the seat reservation to those who don't want to pick seats off the price of the flight. Families pay more to fly in school holidays anyway. Kind of like a reward if you are not fussed where you sit.
