Anxious about going away with my mum
Me and my mum are going on a four night cruise (musical theatre one) from Monday to Friday next week but for some silly reason I’m feeling a bit anxious
Now I know some of this may be due to the nightmare I had going away with a friend last year but also it’s over 20 years since I’ve been away with my mum and it just feels a little strange. Don’t get me wrong the whole point of this cruise is so she goes away and has a wonderful time (her partner just won’t go anywhere anymore) and tbh that’s more important than me but I guess I’m worried that she won’t enjoy it and that we are sharing a cabin may not go well She has a few health problems including diverticulitis and I think she is anxious about that and how it will impact me - I’ve already said that I am going to get up and go for a swim/ go to the gym in the morning for an hour (mainly to allow her some space to get ready as that’s when she gets anxious about her diverticulitis) and I’ll bring her back a latte (I’ve purchased a coffee card for her) but i can’t get over this feeling of worry that something may go wrong Am i just being silly! |

Pre holiday nerves. I'm like this the day before we leave as I do all the booking, planning (with daughter's help), and worry the rest of the group don't like the villa, the plan, (they do get a copy but hardly look at it), etc. We do end up having a fabulous time and I hope you do too.

I too think it’s just pre holiday nerves. Your mother is very lucky to have such a caring daughter- try to take things at her pace but don’t be afraid to take some time out for yourself . I hope you both have a great holiday and create some lovely mum and daughter memories x

NO. I used to get worried prior to going on holiday with my mom and we used to go 3 - 4 times a year
Once you're on board you will be fine |

I know the cruise and would love to have gone on it. You will be so busy you won't have time to worry.

Thank you all I do feel silly worrying about it but I guess I’m just so anxious to ensure she has the best time and nothing spoils it

It's understandable. I went with my Mum to the US last September, it was a year since dad passed away. We hadn't been on holiday together for over 20.years. I got up early and went for a walk and a coffee while Mum was getting up. It gave me some me time. It was a different kind of holiday to what I'm used to and it took some adjusting to a slower pace. We made some good memories though.
