Alamo Brits
Looking at car hire quotes and Alamo Brits is coming is just slightly cheaper than DFCH (and also with a free extra driver) but reading the page it says...
You will be requested to present your copy of the Brit Guide in order to qualify for your rental at time of pick up. Is this really the case or do you not get asked for it when picking up a car? |

Never been asked, don't think anyone on this forum ever has...
If you're the first, the Dibb collective jaw would no doubt drop! |

I have to say it's an excellent publication which we used to buy when we first started going in the 90's but in 15 years on here no Dibber has ever been asked to show it. The author is an occasional contributor to the DIBB.
Alamo run thousands of promotions across the USA alone and you can book a car through Brits to collect in Alaska, Vermont. Florida and all points in between and I doubt the guy at the Alamo barrier at Anchorage has heard of the Brit's Guide. Mick

I have a 2007 copy and a 2019 copy but wasnt asked on collecting the vehicle.
Alamo brits price was amazing compared to my DFCH quote and I got 3 additional drivers free when did OLCI and straight to garage. Found it all very slick. We had an 8 seater and friends booked compact through Andy at DFCH as that price was comparable and he seems a lovely guy. |

You can always get a PDF and stick it on your phone/tablet, but no-one has ever been asked about it - I'd be surprised if Alamo staff even know what it is.
Similarly for those that use the discount supposed to be for airline staff/partners (not one I've used personally, but is a bigger discount), I don't think anyone has been asked for ID for those either, they just seem to treat a booking the same as any other. |

I’ve never been asked although have bought the book a couple of times over the years as it is really good.
Once booked I recommend going back and checking the price every now and then. I’ve got 2 months to go and the price dropped £50 2 weeks ago so I cancelled and rebooked straight away. Now paying £375 for 2 weeks SUV instead of £425 😃

Thanks, might look to get the book anyways now if there’s useful info in it.
Should I be looking to add on the roadside plus or is it not needed? Alamo showing to be £20 cheaper today than dfch Edited at 08:02 PM. |
