Extra person possibly staying in my room at WDW for only a few days - what do I do?
Just wondering if anyone has done this and their experience?
I'm heading to WDW in November, staying for 2 weeks. A friend of mine is currently in Canada and thinking about coming down for a few days as she hasn't been to Florida in years. As it's just me and I will have the extra bed in the room, I said she could stay with me. I assume I will need to let the hotel know for fire code and so she can have access to the room? If she is able to come down, she is buying her own tickets and will pay for food as and when, whereas I have the qsdp and tickets included. Would I just let them know when I check in if she does book to come down?

As above, I personally wouldn't bother saying anything.
It's not like the Disney CMs will know who's in each room at any one time. You could be out at a park, visiting somewhere offsite, staying at a different hotel for a day or two, etc. Or a friend from another resort could come over and see you for an hour during the day. So it's not required for the "fire code". Access to the room - in terms of being able to open the door with her MagicBand or plastic ticket - is a different thing though. In order for her to access the room using her Magicband/ticket then I would assume she'd need to be listed as a guest on your booking. As long as she doesn't mind either using your MagicBand/ticket or always being with you when she goes out and returns, then it shouldn't be a problem. Otherwise, I guess you'd have to ask reception if they could give her access. BTW, you could use your QSDP credits to buy meals or snacks for her. There's nothing wrong with doing that.

Just a thought if you booked a package to get free dining then if you informed the hotel then your friend would also need to buy a tickets with the room package if that makes sense as everyone staying in the room must be on the same deal so I would say say nothing

Don't know if it would be the same, but a few years ago we added our daughters friend to our booking, we included a ticket (she paid us back) and she was included in the dining plan that we had already got on our booking.
Depending on how much her tickets would be, it might be worth adding her to your booking and getting the full qsdp for her?

If she’s buying tickets for a few days anyway there prob won’t be much difference if you just add her to your booking. She’ll get the same ticket as you and free dining.

Technically you should i form the front desk. Now, whether doing that will mean that they would have to buy a ticket etc is another matter. In theory Disney could ask you to leave if they found out you had some one staying in the room without them knowing. Maybe ask the front desk before they arrive but after you have checked in if it will cause any issues. You may find that as it is for a couple of days Disney will allow it without paying anything extra.

You have already paid for the room so I don't see a problem. There could be a problem if your friend had a slip or a trip and there is no record of her being there officially. Likewise Florida is hot on maintaining safety standards in hotel type accommodation.
