I posted on the other thread also.
It is a lovely place.
You feel very safe and the people welcome you.
We have been for holidays and It was from a cruise that we got to like it.

Madiera is stunning and one of my favourite places to have ever been, we stayed in funchal but its easy to get around most of the island. The locals are very friendly we went when our youngest was 8 and they adored her, spoilt her rotten. So much to do, we went whale and dolphin watching on a catamaran which was amazing, jeep safari in the mountains, the cablecars are a must even though I hate heights when you get to the top its worth it, there are the gardens up there and the wicker toboggans to get back down. The beach isn't a sunbathing beach its very pebbley. Some amazing places to eat out. Only negative is on port days it can be very busy especially in funchal, some days we saw four cruise ships in port. But at same time its nice to sit beside the port and people watch lots of little cafes and ice cream parlours there.
There are big red tour buses that do a guided tour of parts of the island we really enjoyed that.

Don't forget that if you are travelling to Scotland you'll still need to isolate for 14 days on your return.
