Only been to the Lake District once and stayed in Ullswater at the Rampsbeck lovely hotel and the surrounding area was just beautiful

Lowther Castle is lovely for a walk in the gardens & has the Lost Garden Playground & the Lost Castle for little ones. Ullswater Steamers is a beautiful boat ride or the Ravenglass Railway for a trip on a train. Brockhole is great for kids & there’s the Beatrix Potter attraction in Bowness. It’s a beautiful place - have fun.

Thanks all! Lots of great suggestions here, need to do some more research I think and also think we will need to go back there for a holiday in its own right!
