Mobile Isle of Wight Recommendations please

Hi
We are tentatively beginning to plan our August holiday for next year. We really fancy the Isle of Wight... ideally somewhere with easy access to the east side, but not fussy about where specifically. Never been before so we are looking for accommodation recommendations... some look lovely at first glance but then reviews regarding cleanliness / being run down are putting us off! Would consider caravan, chalet, cottage or similar.
TIA

I stayed in freshwater a few years ago but the cottage has subsequently sold. I prefer the quieter west and to travel to the east but we aren't mad sandy beach people.

Friends of mine have recently stayed here and absolutely loved it. Nearby pub had good food which is always important for a quiet village stay.

There are a few IoW dibbers so no doubt they will have a lot of suggestions. I really like it there a slower pace of life and the ferry makes it feel.like you are on holiday holiday iykwim 😉

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. That’s really helpful. And I totally know what you mean re the ferry... I feel like it will be more of an adventure for dd in particular, and I like the fact it’s a place that is new for all 3 of us

I would recommend The Garlic Farm having stayed at their cottages twice.
Good accommodation, combined with nice food available in restaurant and walks around the farm on your doorstep.
Even if you dont stay its worth a visit :-)

Living here I don’t take much notice of places to stay but I have heard many good reports about this place Nettlecombe farm... self catering holiday cottages . If you can’t find it I will ask one of my kids to post a link for you when they get in ... pm me if I can help at all. ps if you book with a buissness I believe they can get you a discount on your ferry booking 😉

We went to IoW with friends for the first time last year and had a great time. We stayed in an apartment in a converted fort just outside Freshwater and it was brilliant for us. It was called the Tap Room in Golden Hill Fort. I can’t remember who we booked it through, but it was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed.

I second the suggestion of a visit to the Garlic Farm and their food is delicious! We also went to Osborne House, The Needles, Ryde and Shanklin during our stay and enjoyed them all.

Love love love Isle of Wight. Recommend Osborne House, Seaview Wildlife Encounter, Bembridge. Drive 10 minutes and you’ll find something new. Highly recommend Classic Cottages. You can’t go wrong with them. Absolutely fantastic accommodation.

We’ve booked it today and went with Nettlecombe Farm as suggested by smelli! I’ll definitely be checking out some of the places all you guys suggested when we are there next August. Really excited to have it booked, thank you all

Unfortunately, Seaview Wildlife Encounter closed down a year or 2 ago.
