A lot of the price issues will firm up over time.

I have clocked the August surge pricing and can avoid it by doing a 2 day rental then drop off the car and immediately have a 26 day rental. Undoubtedly keeping the same vehicle!
That will save me £850.

However as time marches on the prices will drop.

For example I have booked, cancelled and rebooked for a March rental 12 times and got the price down from £422 to £302 and I lay money it will go to £250.

I just tried splitting mine into 2 bookings in August and stayed the same price when added it together as booking in one.

Mmm. With Andy who advertises on here the 16th Aug is the cut off date for the surge.

So I can do 14th to 16th and 16th to 11th to save money.

Auto Europe is broadly similar.

We very often do split bookings because we are away for long periods but we have never been able to keep the same vehicle.

Airport no as you cannot retrieve it from the row. Disney Car Care Centre yes as they just want minimal hassle.

I've always sent customers to a local office. Never had to swap vehicles. As Tom says, less hassle for them in that they don't need to clean a vehicle.

Andy, do you reckon leave it for a bit or book now? Messed you about quite a bit this year after cancelling 1st booking due to TC going bust then 2nd one due to Covid.

I've never seen a pattern to price changes so I'd always recommend booking as early as possible and then amend the booking as and when it drops.
