Mobile There’s lots of ‘I should have been... ’

Today I had tickets for my first ever MNSSHP, me, DH, 2xdd’s, my mum, dad, sister and brother in law, lots of trick and treating, eating fun snacks and then at midnight be standing on Main St in looking at the castle as I turned 50 years old 😭 I’ve tried not to think about where I should have been for the last 2 weeks but today I just can’t help it

I think you are allowed to feel sad about it, its such a disappointment to not be able to have the celebration you wanted, especially for a ‘big’ birthday (mine is next year and to be honest i am not sure even that will be how i want it) these big holidays and plans take months, so its hard when they get cancelled - none of us knew this would happen so its a shock to the system. I hope that tomorrow brings some nice surprises for you, and that you can revisit the original plan soon - happy birthday 🥳

On Tuesday we had our notification that our flight to Dallas had opened for check in, we were due to be in Austin and gulf coast Florida
But are now in Scotland ☺️
We needed a break as we have worked through and count ourselves lucky we are in a tier 1 area and can still move about .
Plus the money we saved will buy us a bigger better holiday next year.
Even though I wouldn’t have believed at the start of the year if someone had told me by March the world would change dramatically we take it as it comes and keep our fingers crossed we can go next year.

Today We are supposed to be in Derbyshire. In fact we were in Derbyshire but have had to come home early as my daughter’s friend tested positive and so my daughter had to self isolate. It wasn’t a big trip but it was disappointing as we actually made it away and it still managed to get ruined.

Firstly, Happy Birthday for tomorrow 💕 It is horrible to miss out on all our lovely trips and plans this year, and it’s even harder if it was meant to celebrate a special occasion. You’ve got every right to feel sad and disappointed about it. I know I had my moments this year when I’ve thought I should be... 😢
Try to plan something nice for tomorrow, even if it’s just a takeaway and enjoy spending the time with your family. I’ve found I appreciate the small things that I’ve taken for granted far more this year. One day you will return to Disney and holidays and many more lovely birthday celebrations xx

Happy Birthday. I would be totally gutted too, what a lovely trip you had planned. Hopefully you will get to spend another birthday doing exactly that.

Thank you for your replies, my family have plans that I don’t know about, DH took me to Torquay last weekend as we’ve both worked all through lockdown as well, that was lovely and we did everything we wanted to. I’m going to stay at 49.5 until I can go to Disney and do my 50th there, it might not be for MNSSHP as my youngest school have changed back to 1 week for half term but it will be a Disney 50th

That's rotten, I am so sorry

I have a big one next year and we had huge plans to go to Alaska but of course that won't be happening now. Although it's easier for me to come to terms with as I haven't booked it all! We were also going to go to WDW too, still maybe hoping that might happen but it's looking less and less likely with all the cutbacks / restrictions which will be there.

I told Mrs MH that when this is all over I'm taking her to Clacton for the weekend to a B&B, so at least she has a focus.
