NCL have done good deals on Breakaway or Getaway (can't remember which) from Copenhagen next year with free drinks package. I am fairly certain they have single cabins. We met loads of single travellers on NCL Epic and they all said what a good cruise line it was for solo travellers. We find them an informal cruise line with younger demographic

Wowee! Just had a look, Its not my all time top itinerary as it goes to Germany for a day and I have been to Germany lots, BUT, Its £1000 cheaper than Royal Carribean as it does have single cabins...
Thats put a HUGE spanner in the works

Having been on both NCL and Royal Caribbean, I definitely wouldn't pay £1,000 more for the latter. Server, food and entertainment similar on both. Do both include drinks package? On NCL Epic the singles cabins had their own lounge so single travellers could meet up. We met a German woman who was a solo traveller and was raving about NCL as she found them great when traveling alone - solo travelers tended to meet in the lounge in early evening and people would make plans to go to shows and dinner together etc

Yes both do have the free drinks package which is good.

They aren't directly comparable, the NCL one is a day shorter than the Royal Caribbean, and the Royal Carribean would take me to 7 countries I have never been to, whereas the NCL only 5 as one of the 9 days is Germany.

BUT I could almost have another cruise for that £1000, the 8 day fjords trip for example is £1200 (they don't seem to have the solo rooms on that boat).

And I really do like the sound of the solo lounge, seems like a fab idea, so I'm VERY tempted.

Thanks, you did a great job here

I would if I was in a 2 I think, but just can't on my own. Mind you, I really don't mind, I'm used to boats as I've been brought up on them, so I won't get sea sick or claustrophobic.

My dad has been at sea for nearly 60 years! Him and mum did an inside cabin with Cunard. He didn't mind but mum hated it (the cabin not the cruise )

Glad you got something in mind.

Glad you got something planned. I'm off on my own next year (with my 2DDs). I'm just going to not be lonely but to be brave🙃

Dont get too hung up on itinerary, two reasons, first, if weather poor, sometimes your itinerary might change to accommodate it. Second, you dont need to get off at each stop, sometimes its lovely to stay on the ship, enjoy the quiet and discover the spa etc...

Sounds like good research has begun!
