Kids club

Hi Everyone

When we set sail our 2 year old, will be 2 years and 9 months old and is mature for his age and fully toilet trained and well used to being away from his parents as he attends crèche daily . Our travel agent said he has heard of kids at a similar age and level being accepted to the kids club and was wondering if anyone has experienced this.

Would be great if it was true because I would like to be able to keep him with his 5 year old brother if possible?

Love to hear your thoughts and experiences

Thanks

Lachelli

Official DL policy is that under 3's are welcome in the creche only I'm afraid.
Don't forget you'll need to book the time in the creche at $6 per hour. You can only do this once your online check in opens at 75 days out.

It's frustrating isn't it, but like here, there's probably legal or insurance reasons for the minimum age of 3 for entrance to the older club, rather than whether a child is potty trained etc.

You might, however, be able to accompany your 2 year old (and 5 yr old) into the older club though, which is perhaps what your travel agent was referring to, although that does mean less time for you of course.

It will be to do with staff ratio laws. Like at the moment on the UK (until new regs come into place-don't get me started!) under 3's require a ratio of 1:3 and 3-4's is 1:8. This is to protect themselves as well as to provide your child with the best care. It would be extremely unlikely that they would deviate from the law on this considering all the recent child protection lawsuits.

Forgot about this .. thanks Ruth. Just regarding this though, you can only go into the clubs during Open House and not at any other time.

Thanks guys

you have echoed pretty much what I suspected, goes to show that the agents will tell you anything to secure a booking

What everyone has said is the official rule with Disney. That said, it will be up to the counselors onboard when you get there. For anyone under 3 years old, they will make a determination. I know someone whose child will be just a few days short and the same thing was passed on to her by her agent -- counselors will make the determination.

It sounds like you might have a good chance of getting your son in the kids club, but just be prepared that they could say no (especially if there are too many kids already in there).

And I agree, there are agents that will say anything to get a sale, but not all do this.

Thanks Tracy

Interesting to hear your thoughts and experiences, I did see something similar posted on another site.

Guess all we can do is try and see what they say, wonder if the cruise will be a quiet one or will it be fully booked

Either way I am sure we will have a great time
