Car hire gone up massively?!

We hired a car through alamo brits last March for 2 weeks, cost us £249. Looking for exactly the same spec of car, same hire length and same time of year and cheapest quote I've found is £449! Any idea why it's so much more expensive? Maybe because I'm looking at booking early?

Have you tried US Car hire. We're paying £500 for a 7 seater for 3 weeks. I'm used to Spain car hire prices and thought it very cheap.

I could have written this!
Always find VA to be cheaper than Brits - apart from 7 seaters.

I've noticed Alamo Brits very expensive for mid size SUVs too!

Virgin Atlantic - Virgin offer car rental as well, even if not flying with them and are quite competitive.

I booked Alamo via Auto-Europe as they were much cheaper than everywhere else, although prices have shot up since (likely due to dollar dropping since EU referendum announcement) - currently £200 more than I paid!

Certainly prices have gone up, the last few visits I have booked my car hire through Netflights and the price has been consistently cheaper than everyone else, and that is turning out to be the case this year too, their Alamo price for my dates in Sept is £25 cheaper than the same car booked with Alamo Brits so looks like it will be them again this year.

Sorry, but it does make me smile every time I see this, the exchange rate has only changed around 10%.

Yup, not a massive change, but since the announcement prices have increased considerably
