Cypress Gardens

Cypress Gardens is one of the more unusual places that we visited last year.  It's a bit theme park,  a bit botanical gardens, a bit zoo, and there's a water park too...

It's a beautiful park (and I mean park in the traditional sense rather than a theme park), with gorgeous floral displays, and southern belle's gracing the paths.

If you have a young daughter,  there is the possiblity of dressing up as a Belle and walking around the park - although to be honest, I am a little uncomfortable with very little girls getting all dressed up in heavy makeup and fancy hairdos.

There is also a small zoo area where we saw alligators and wallabies.

The theme park area is nothing really to get excited about if your kids are over 6 or 7, but there are a few rides, and a lovely water park for the under 10s - Katie loved it when she was scared of most other parks,  so definitely for the younger child.

I think there was a boat ride that you could take, although we didn't,  and also one of those skylon things that take you up into the sky for a better view.

We also saw a water skiing show

and I mustn't forget the weddings- because it's such a beautiful park it's a popular spot for weddings  so we saw at least 5 wedding partys.

and there's craft shops too.

All in all,  it's a nice day out with a real mix of things to do and see,

Bev

We had a lovely day there in November 2000. We went for the Chrysanthemum festival and managed to time it just right for the first day of the Poinsettia festival and the turning on of the Christmas lights. The flower festivals were gorgeous.
I'd recommend this as a more relaxing day away from the hectic pace of the theme parks.

I've got a few  .  photos taken at Cypress Gardens on my website. Mostly of the Chrysanthemum and Poinsettia festivals but some taken around the gardens as well. They're here if anyone wants to have a look.
