What are the downside to booking DCL last minute?

There's a chance we might be going back to Florida in October () and I am desperate to treat ourselves to a Disney Cruise. It would be the 3 day out of Port Canveral, and we'd stay on board during the stop at Nassau.

I know I'm paying a premium to go so soon, but what might I be missing out on? Port arrival time? Character meets? Other bookable experiences?

I don't mind paying a bit extra, but I don't want to pay extra and get a much reduced experience if that makes sense?

Any advice from DCL veterans?!

Character Meets you can get once on-board (not sure of the location I am sure someone else can point you in that direction), but there are no pre bookable meet and greets via website etc, just once your on-board.

Port arrival time might be a bit later but I don't think this will reduce your experience of the dream especially if you intend to explore the ship whilst its docked at Nassau.

Do you want the adult only dining (Remy or Palo) as you might not be able to get reservations but if you intend to do the dining rotation and no extras this will be fine.

Do you want any port activities for Castaway Cay? These might be sold out too but if you want to just go and relax on the island and swim in the sea then nothing lost there either.

At the moment our cruise is in 3 weeks (just under) and I can still book palo and remmy so I wouldn't think you would miss out on that excursions and stuff are still available too

I thought that they recently changed that you can pre-book the princess and frozen meet and greet online now? Hopefully someone with more knowledge can confirm

Thanks everyone, that's definitely put my mind at rest

I'd definitely like to do Palo and take advantage of the kids club so it's nice to know that's still possible.

We'll be doing WDW as well so as long as we get to meet the Princesses at some point during the holiday my daughter (truthfully, I) will be happy

Castaway Cay will just be a day to relax on the beach so no worries there either

Now keeping my fingers/toes/eyes crossed that things work our this week and we can book!

Just to let you know I booked the WBTA cruise on Tuesday leaving in 2 weeks and I was able to book the character breakfast, meet and greet with princesses and Anna and Elsa, and dinner at Palo that night.

I can't get a Palo brunch slot but will keep trying HTH!

In fairness it's are to get Palo Brunch even on booking day because Gold and Platinum take the slots haha. You will almost certainly get a slot once on board if you head to Palo first

On the Magic, you go to the side entrance of Lumieres for dining amendments/bookings (inc Palo).
On the Dream, you need to go to the side entrance of Royal Palace normally.
