Is october really that bad?!

Hey guys!

We've booked 14 nights at POFQ this coming October (13th-27th).

All I'm seeing everywhere is that October is the busiest month now at WDW.

Last year we went mid Sep - early Oct, am I in for a shock? Or is it manageable?

Any advice is really appreciated!

We have pretty much always gone in October and over the last 10 years it has got busier but not so much to spoil anything. We get up early and tend to leave parks 2pm for a break swim etc and then go back in the evenings.

We usually go in August, last year we went in October 13th-26th, and cant say it was any busier than it was when we have been in August, really wasn't any different!

Every month is now busy, Our very first trip 15 years ago was almost the same as your dates, last year we were there for the 2nd and 3rd week of October. I absolutely agree it is busy and I can definitely see the difference over the year. Having said that it is definitely managable, it really comes down to how you want to manage it. Make use of extra magic hours ( we don't have this luxury as we stay offsite). Have lots of breaks, you are staying onsite so have an afternoon siesta back at the hotel. Try not to do too much to you will wear yourself out and not enjoy yourself. Ultimately its about your mindset, if you know its going to be busy and acknowledge it then it will become easier to manage. You will have an amazing time and there will be times when you question your sanity but it is all worth it.

Brill thank you everyone!

I always tell myself I'll go back midday for a chill but it never happens 😂.

I don't mind crowds too much, we're 26 and relatively fit with no needs as such, so it's not too much of an issue, just have seen lots of negativity about this month and I'm hoping it's unfairly!

We went the first 2 weeks in Oct last year. On the whole we found it to be great. I thought universal was a bit busier than I expected but it didn’t bother us too much.
As for Disney, I didn’t think it was any worse than any other time we’ve been. What I would say is absolutely avoid MK on a non MNSSHP party day. We went on our last day on a non party day and it was absolutely horrendous. The other day we went was a party night day but we were there early so leaving early was fine and it was much more manageable. Really enjoyed that day.

I was the same last year, kept thinking why the hell have we booked October! In the run up everyone was saying how crazy it was, especially with Star Wars & Food and Wine. But can honestly say it was no different, we usually always go the end of August so we’re back to that this year.

We even had some days where the weather was so hot then some downpours so literally felt like it was August some days!

We were there from 7th to 19th October last year. We have previously been in September (twice) and February. It was definitely busier than those times of year but it was far from unmanageable. We made the most of early starts or late finishes and fast passes. We don't have kids so the late nights worked particularly well. I found Universal to be harder to deal with than Disney, even with front of the line passes.

We would go back in October if that time of year suited us, though we are going back to September for next years visit. I don't really expect it to be any quieter though.

We went the end of October last year and didn’t find it bad at all, it was a great trip and loved the weather compared to summer. I think if you have half an idea of what you’re doing and use FP and rope drop to your advantage the crowds really don’t impact that much. I do acknowledge that we are an adult couple so only have ourselves to please but went with friends and children at Easter and found it to be the same, although we had DAS pass then.

Honestly, not much difference apart from one thing.
Magic Kingdom is terrible because there are only a few nights in Oct you can see the fireworks (due to MNSSHP).

We tried on one of those nights and I shan’t relate the experience except to say that my son was injured by a motor scooter and said he will never set foot in MK again,

Dangerously overcrowded imo. They offered us free passes to MNSSHP but we didn’t take them. You honestly couldn’t pay me to return to MK in Oct.

Everything else was perfect tho.
