Katie. You are like me. I would spend all day on the computer to get a dollar back!
In fact I have just E Mailed Sainsbury's as I didn't like my pie last night and want my money back!

PS I also told Avis that I had been forewarned about this latest money maker on a Disney internet forum as other people had also had charges on their cc's after returning home. It wasn't mere coincidence that I had conveniently taken photos of our car in front of the cash machine. I told them that Avis lack of customer care will soon be made public on Facebook and Twitter as I was so disgusted with their extremely poor customer relations and unacceptable delay in providing information.
Probably got zero chance of getting anything back now Katie

Love it. Think you'll get it?
I rang Iceland last week as I was short of one item which I really wanted - I confused them so much they ended up giving me my money back on something I hadn't even paid for I tried to argue that they didn't owe me anything but they still refunded the money. Katie

Katie. Oh I will win trust me.
Last week - Big lumps of 'compressed' All Bran in the box (Wife's cereal, I hate milk so not for me) Quick E Mail. Within 48 hours £5 worth of vouchers. Best was Virgin last August. My Wife and I were quoted £43 to upgrade our PE Miles flight to UC. However the Granddaughters flight was cash and they wanted over £600 to upgrade her. I rang 5 times and in the end totally confused the Guy on the phone and he upgraded us all for £43 each. Win win!

Well done you particularly with Virgin. It's easier to confuse people as you get older
and on another note - I have been getting lumpy bits in the shreddies. I watch for them sprouting legs and crawling away but they don't. I chuck them back in the box till I can get my DH to investigate them but I keep forgetting and they end up in my dish again next day again. Think it's worth an email? About the shreddies I mean - not my bad memory or paranoia that all shapeless lumps grow legs & crawl away. Katie

Katie. Go for it! I dont want anything for nothing. But I wont be ripped off especially on food.
My Son is always complaining about food etc and always gets his money back plus more. I have just about stopped shopping anywhere except M & S now. At least they have good quality stuff.

FWIW - We just returned back after our first rental with Avis (Orlando / MCO) through BA and had no issues. Bypassed counter and picked up car at kiosk (had to speak to someone at kiosk as it was our first time, our upcoming May trip should be ready with a bay on the boards as we've booked everything through BA again - the last few times we've booked they've really had some cracking deals that beat any DIY combo I could find at the time).
We always opt to use the rental toll road express lanes so will get a charge for that, but returned car full (filled up at 7-Eleven on Jetport Drive) and the total due was $0.00 on the printed receipt. The Chevy Malibu was a lovely car too, almost brand new and came with a reversing camera (first time in all the US rentals I've done)

I have to say that I had no problems with my actual rental this time - the car was ready when I got there, though my name wasn't on the board as usual, the car was very nice & new. They did try and charge me $77 dollars for something which the Avis rep at the desk couldn't work out but she refunded that and just charged us around $45 for petrol which we had agreed to pay. The problems only started after my holiday when I got charged for 2 tolls on the way back to the airport even though I put the exact money in the machines. In the past, we have only had minor problems with Avis. However, their unhelpful attitude has really bugged me this time. They know there is a problem and are doing nothing to sort it out.

And that sums it all up! I have used Avis since 1976 and put them up there with Alamo and Hertz. However the last 6 months they have been dire.

Just got an email from a Highway Toll Specialist to say he's made a full refund of my toll charge. He says that sometimes the sunpass is picked up before the payment is made with the coins in the basket. Anyway, I shall watch out for the refund to appear in my CC account. I'd better let the CC company know too. What a palaver.
