I am sure it is an issue. Way back in the 70's when we were living in New York my parents tried to book a campsite at FW for a week. There was no availability and we stayed offsite in a very ordinary campsite (ie pretty much an empty field). There were no fastpasses or magic bands back then and I am sure FW was full with actual campers.
If people today are loosing out on camping at such a great site due to people booking for perks only, I think they have a right to be annoyed. Maybe the answer is a 2 night minimum for campsite bookings. There can't be too many actual campers booking just overnight stays.

Disney Florida has an average of 150,000 people through the park gates every day. It has 30,000+ rooms of accommodation available every night. Even if you read 1,000 different posts from people all saying they were going to do a throw away booking at some point next year, that is still only an average of 3 rooms and maybe 10-15 people per day/night. A single plane delayed by a day probably has more impact than that.
Also, how do you or anyone know if a no show is a throw away room or not? There are plenty of reasons people don't turn up. And hotels / airlines etc all know very well that there will always be no shows - that is why they overbook. The know a small % won't turn up so they sell 101% or 102% of rooms anyway. |

But people have the same opportunity to book the campsite as everybody else? Don’t see that issue at all

Unlike the thousands of hotel rooms, there is a much more limited supply of campsites. American families tend to not be able to book vacations very far in advance. I still think it is a bit unfair if a large number of people are booking one night stays just for perks after reading about it on the internet.

I'm sure this will have been asked but I can't find it. Are Disney rooms refundable? And what happens with FP if you cancel a booking? I.e. book a room, get your 60day FP then cancel the room? I'm sure there will be alot of folk who disagree with it but I'm just asking for a friend :-)
