Old Style Pink Paper Driving Licence valid?
Hi
Just having a last minute panic. We go on 16th July so time is ticking. Just wondered if anyone has recently used their old style UK pink paper driving licence to get car hire. We are using Budget. via Holiday Autos. I have contacted Holiday Autos and am awaiting their reply. Thanks |

Glad you found the answer. I used mine a few weeks ago with Budget and all was fine. (Shows we've both been driving a long time!). Do you remember the little red licences before that? 😊 I've still got mine in the house somewhere!

Sadly I have one of those old red books. Not cheap when you look back! 10/6d renewal fee every 3 years I believe, maybe yearly?

They are valid Worldwide. But only if you never applied for a photocard license. The second you do the paper part becomes just a momento and can be kept or shredded.
Those who drive in the US on paper only must carry their Passport as well as additional ID

Absolutely - as long as the address on the license is still current and even better, no need to pay to renew every ten years!
I have no intention of changing to the photo card type until I'm old enough to qualify for free renewals and in the meantime, happy to carry my passport when driving in the US. Debra
