You're right. I was doing the exchange rate and couldn't work out why it was over a £1 out. That makes sense now.

When we went to New England and New York last year the Avis car kept getting you haven't paid messages. When we checked there was no transponder in the screen box. Annoyed and worried re fines. Phoned Avis who reassured me that it would be charged on licence plate. When we returned checked and all was correct.

We had the same in Orlando this year - in March.

Was reassured greatly by all the posts on here, rang Avis - will be charged at a flat rate+ tolls on numberplate etc... when we took the car back - no charge.

and none since. Rang Avis - no record of the car having been through any tolls.

We LIVED on the toll roads at Easter - easiest way to get around when the I4 was gridlocked daily.

We logged onto an Avis site to check and the tolls drip fed through slowly although different states may be much quicker.
