14 day v annual pass
We have 16 days booked over Christmas; it was a last minute decision as I found some cracking flights with BA including car hire.
We are also due to go for three weeks in August 2017. I am trying to work out if we would be better getting an Annual Pass. Am I right in thinking that if we purchase a 14 day pass, we can exchange the value of that against the price of annual pass once we get there? I think I would like to do a few days in the parks, see have the kids get on before committing to the annual pass. Any thoughts or tips? Thanks, Jo |

Welcome to the DIBB!
I haven't tried it myself, but I believe that is the case, yes. Disney is always happy to take more money from you. A 14 day Ultimate ticket for this year costs £330. For next year it costs £350. So that's a total of £680 per person. A Platinum Plus Pass (the 'Plus' bit gives you access to the waterparks) currently costs $882. That's about £680 per person (at the current exchange rate). The Platinum Plus pass also provides free parking at the Disney parks, MagicBands, plus discounts on merchandise. So it is a better deal than two sets of 14 day Ultimate tickets. If you do get a 14 day ticket now and decide to exchange it for an annual pass whilst over there, make sure you do so before the 14 days run out. You can only upgrade whilst there are days left on the ticket.

I wonder if you upgraded your 14 day to an AP they'd repay your 14 days parking (if you decided right at the end). I would be surprised if they did and therefore maybe wiser to make that decision as early as possible otherwise it could be up to a $280 spend you could have swerved.

Thanks, that's the plan to do it sooner rather than later.
The issue we have is that we went in 2014, with our 9month old, 9 & 10 year old. We found MK extremely stressful, and really didn’t enjoy the day at all. I am hoping it was just due to a series of events that individually would have been ok, but all happening at once made for a rather crappy day. We didn’t bother going to Disney in 2015, or when just Hubby and I went in August this year. I really like the idea of Disney @ Christmas. I just didn’t want to commit and then find that it just isn’t really for us. We love the Universals Parks so that’s not a problem. Edited at 01:56 PM. Reason: spelling |

MK is always going to be the busiest park you'll visit. I often find it a bit hectic and uncomfortable due to the crowds and, because of this, it's not my favourite park (although I do still like it).
It's a good idea to go and visit the Disney parks for a few days and see how you feel about them before upgrading to the annual pass. Disney is flexible enough to allow you to do this. Hope you have a great holiday!
