Ah, that article's very useful, thanks.
So they're increasing their prices by about 6.8% - from $478.50 for a 14 day adult pass to $511.18. Unfortunately, while the new price would be £352 (from £330) on the old exchange rate, on the new one, it's £419. |

I Agree this is down to Disney recouping losses ( was it shanghai lost them loads? and park refurbs with a bit of the exchange rate. Be interesting to see what 2018 prices will be like

£190 in 2010 was about $300.
From ~$300 to ~$500 in 7 years is an annual increase of around 7%-8%. It's a bit steep, but not that unusual. For comparison, if we had the same exchange rate today as in 2010, the ticket would be £327. It'd still look pretty painful, but less so than £419. |

Of course its not. Prices go up every year, thats a given. Disney is a business and has been increasing prices yearly because it can and there are enough people willing to pay.
This thread was started due to the increase in price since last year and a large portion of this is due to the sterling exchange rate. I've already shown the price increase in euro is much much smaller.

I just found my old tickets from 1997, these were 4 day tickets (i think you got a couple of extra days on them though as we did every park and every waterpark (back when they had 3) and the price on these was 199 dollars each, the exchange rate back them was about 1.60 to the pound though.

I'm just truly thankful we did Disney 20yrs ago when prices were affordable. We are going for a month in Feb. and have bought a 1 day Epcot ticket and that's it. It will be our last trip, it's sad but we're all happy we managed to travel - several times!
I hope the people that do save and go enjoy the experience. |

I don't think anyone can complain really. The UK made a free and informed decision on how it wanted to interact with the world outside its borders. That was always going to make the pound less attractive.
I don't see why any foreign business would therefore want to soften the blow of the currency fall by effectively taking a 20% discount on the chin themselves - especially not for a country that did this to themselves |
