Day Eight - packing and a very sad goodbye (warning graphic content)

Our last day and we woke up to the devastating and very shocking news that Penelope our pink pool pony had sadly died in the night - look away now if you don’t want to see photos...

She had been a dear and loyal pool pony, we had all enjoyed our time with her, George in particular had formed a special bond with Penelope and we all gathered round to say a fond and sad farewell.

We wiped our tears away and went for breakfast at Mamas again, (not Harry of course he stayed in bed, wearing a jumper) poor terry couldn’t find a parking space and went round the block about ten times before joining us in the restaurant. I had poached eggs and smoked salmon, yum.

I then set about cleaning the villa to within an inch of its life and packing. It feels like it has been such a relaxing week (aside from the teenage drama) and now it’s flown by and we have to go home, I do prefer a two week holiday but it’s even more expensive here than Florida!
I would highly recommend this villa though to anyone and hope to come again.

We spent the afternoon at the beach. Today’s tree photo - I think this is called a a Toothbrush tree? I love them!

Back at the house I finally watched the rest of Love island! I was happy that Greg and Amber won.

The boys seem to have finally started relaxing and actually enjoying being with us - just as we are leaving 😥

We went out for dinner locally, at a place called ‘Don Quijote’ the reviews were great, and it didn’t disappoint, (most of my trip reports are just food photos sorry - I do love food! 😂

I had prawn ravioli, deeeeelicious, followed by rib eye steak and gratin potatoes, then finally chocolate fondant. Wine was also very good.

George had crepes Suzette and it was flambéd so much it nearly caused a fire!

We had quite a civilised family discussion too, which is a rare and lovely thing. Minimal bickering! We all agreed it was the best meal yet.

I dont know what our next trip will be, this one has shown that we really have different wants and needs from a holiday, and I think it will be some time before we take the boys again. I feel that I actually would prefer to travel alone (like my brave adventurer dibb friend melbatb!) Who knows... watch this space!

You’ve definitely found very nice looking places to eat - both today’s look lovely.

Thanks for a super report! I am happy that the last day was a success! The prawn dish looks particularly! delicious!

And go for the solo trip! I love mine though I don’t know when or where the next one will be (depends on whether we go to HK in October to see O!)

Don’t ever apologise for your food photos. Tonight’s restaurant looked amazing again. Yum! Definitely nicer food than Orlando I think eh?

How nice that your last meal out was a chilled family affair with no drama. I’m really pleased for you.
