Just out of interest I looked at how much £99 would be worth in 'modern money' apparently it's £171
Still super cheap lol.
I'm not going in May but those cheap August flights look amazing. It is just how last minute you have to wait to get them lol

Around 1981 I can remember selling packages to Florida for £99 for two weeks including Miami hotel , they threw in a day trip by coach to WDW for that.
Charters to Orlando started a year or two later I think.

I booked 99 days out for Easter Monday this year but early May was the same price , with bags, meal and seats included £339 from Gatwick. I knew if I waited I could have got cheaper as we wanted the gap between the Easter school holidays and Whitsun but I'm not a fan of charters and wanted to get everything booked.

Edited at 12:40 PM.

We have paid 220 including baggage for flying 24th April this year. That's with Tui from Gatwick.

About six years ago through Thomsons we got last minute flights for £254 but the best bit was for an extra £6 that included car hire with insurance

So is it better to book flights closer to your travel date than further away?

Sorry for jumping on the OPs thread but we’re hoping to fly that date and route next year and we’d be made up with that price! Do you mind me asking when you booked to get that price?

7 years ago went first week of May (included bank holiday) on a package deal. 2 adults and a child return flights from MAN to MCO inc bags and a 2 bed villa at bahama bay for under £1000 for all 3 of us. Booked 6 days before we went.
