Will We Actually Get There 2019 - Day 2 - Travel Day
We were up early this morning, got ready to go and then put overnight bags back in the car. Contrary to the trip advisor reviews we had no issues with the Crowne Plaza needing to take the cars off site immediately and could get back to them until we checked out.
When we tried to complete online check in yesterday it wouldn't allow me and my auntie to check in as we had been selected for extra security so we arrived at check in just before it opened, touched base with special assistance for my auntie and then got checked in. After that breakfast was calling, we chose Frankie & Benny's, it's one of our go to breakfast choices when we're at an airport. From what I remember DD and my auntie had pancakes, I had eggs royale, and everyone else had a cooked breakfast. We amused ourselves waiting for the food to arrive by playing with snapchat. We then had a wander around the shops, stocked up on magazines etc. We boarded first due to special assistance and we had row 45 ABCDEFG. Although as we found out, these don't go in a straight row. Flight was OK, I had some sort of mush for dinner, but the Gu chocolate pot was OK, kids meal was cheesy pasta, which DD declared "too cheesy", she ate most of my Gu pot because she doesn't like jelly, which was the kids option. I watched Mary Queen of Scots, I'm a history geek, especially Tudors & Stuart etc, and must say, this was rubbish! Glad I didn't pay to watch it at the cinema. I then watched Instant Family which I loved, made me laugh and cry in equal amounts. For the rest of the time I just read. DD watched Moana and Tangled and eventually fell asleep half an hour before we were due to land. We landed in Atlanta on time, we weren't in a rush as had a 3 hour layover. The queue at immigration was quite long but luckily (not!) for us DD decide a that point her travel sickness was going to kick in this resulted in us being ushered through a separate lane, whilst clutching a vomiting child and a bag of sick, but you know, swings and roundabouts! She continued to be sick at regular intervals all the way to our gate for Orlando and during the flight and as we disembarked. The flight to Orlando was with Delta and I was pleasantly surprised they have the IFE systems as it was a short haul. When we got off at Orlando a lovely airport worker, who's name I can't remember got DD a wheelchair and escorted us through the airport, helped us reclaim baggage and showed us where the hire cars were. She really made it so much easier. There was a massive queue at Budget for the hire car, must have been an hour long, luckily the vomiting had stopped and DD had fallen asleep. When we eventually got up to the garage to pick the car up (we'd booked a 7 seater), we discovered the car we'd been allocated only had 6 seats, went to the little kiosk in the garage, first response was it's the same size as the 7 seaters there's just more luggage room, we had to point out there was 7 of us. We eventually got a car, it was a silver/grey Chrysler of some sort. It was filthy inside, clearly hadn't been cleaned and the air pressure in one tyre was low, a theme that would continue through the holiday, but we were tired and so took it rather than wait in a queue again. We eventually arrived at the villa at about midnight after stopping at a 7/11 for milk, bread and tyre air! I realised when we got back I haven't taken any villa picture apart from the pool but it was a lovely villa on Lindfields called Dreamstay Villa. We collapsed into bed soon after arriving. |

Oh no, poor thing. It’s good to read that the airport was helpful, not so good about the van!
