Of course it is £145 bacause you could use the vouchers off your next food shop.

Yes the crowds are quieter late August and you can do it without fastpasses, I have the last couple of times. Express Passes are very nice and so is the RPR, but I assume you will not be spending much time there if at all. I would definately be tempted and of course you save on parking as the overnight fee will do two days also.

If you decide not to then get there 30 mins before opening, so that you are in the park for rope drop (universal has no rope it just doesn't open normal rides until opening time so you can get to rides before queues form - Minions always seems to have a queue, because of the way express pass is used on that ride. IOA keeps you out of parts of the park ,even those with early entry, until opening so again can get on rides before queues. The park doesn't get busy until later , so early morning allows a lot of rides to be done before queues really form. HP will have some queues, but if you can make use of single riders you will be ok there.

And use the busy day guide on thedibb. It does seem to work.

We are doing a similar thing next year. We've booked Universal's new Endless Summer resort for 14 nights next August but have also booked 1 night at HRH during the middle part of our stay. If you work out the price of 1 day Express Passes and consider the fact that you get them included for 2 days then it's well worth the money. You will also enjoy the proximity to the parks and make use of using a lovely swimming pool and priority seating at some of the restaurants.

So, we are looking at doing Universal for the last 2 days of our holiday, hadnt realised we could use club card vouchers for the hotel, so really pleased about that, however can i just ask, do you need to book your Universal park tickets at the same time as the hotel to get the express tickets or do you need to do something manually to link them?

No you do not they are entirely seperate. You book the hotel and your room card becomes your express pass (they issue 1 card per room occupant) which you can use in the park. Entrance to the park is seperate and you need a ticket, makes sense because not everyone staying at the hotel is going to the park (although I'm sure a high percentage).
So book the hotel and worry about your tickets later or even on the day or two you decide to go.

There will still be some rides which are busy despite the park being quieter (Kong, Minions, Dudley do right) and even on the less busy rides you will save 15 - 20 mins each time which adds up to a lot of time.

Express is a wonderful perk. Walk round the park and go on what you want, no need to check the q times, no need to walk from area to area to get to the quieter rides in a fixed order, no long queues, option to go on rides more than once in a short time...

Only downside is that once you do it, you will not want to go back to not having Express. The hotel is wonderful too - sitting by the pool at night after a full day at the parks is brilliant

OP - we looked at doing this and if we had more time we absolutely would do. It’s brilliant value. Could you cut your break at the other resort by 1 night and get a small refund perhaps?
